I went back to the Science Museum today and visited their Wellcome Collection section. I really enjoyed this section, especially the life-size medical theatre they had set up.

Next I went to the Science Museum and visited their 'Who Am I?' section. I focussed my attention mainly on the skeletal structure of the human body.

Today I went to the Natural History Museum to do some initial research for my project. I went to the biology/human anatomy section and took some photos and notes. I started off by looking at animals and then moved on to humans.

To kick off the project, I have spent my weekend drawing a heart in my preferred style. I haven't drawn like this in a long time, and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I would like to continue drawing in this style for the remainder of this project. Here are pictures of the original drawing, and the vector version:

For this project, I want to follow on from my summer project which was a book on horse anatomy and common ailments. I would like to focus on human anatomy for the next project, rather than animals. Below are some of the illustrations from my Summer Project Book

And so here ends my Summer project, and my new university project begins! I will be looking at anatomy and medical illustration for this project... Here we go!

Street Fair Success

So, this Saturday was my home town's Street Fair, and as a member of my town's art society, I was given the chance to put some of my work in an exhibition which runs along side the fair. I chose a few pieces to submit, including my Wind in the Willows character illustrations, and at the very last minute decided to get an A3 copy of 'Teamwork' (the shire horses) printed... And I'm very glad I did! When I went to collect my artwork at the end of the day, 'Teamwork' was sitting on the table with a little red dot on it - it had sold for £45! I never imagined I would be selling prints for this sort of price so early on, but I'm glad someone liked it, and hope they enjoy having two lovely shires hanging on their wall.
